Moussa Isamotu
My name is Moussa Isamotu. I am a visual artist of Burkinabè and Nigerian nationality, originally from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. I currently live in Edmond, Oklahoma, where I continue my artistic journey while studying visual arts and architecture.
Wood is my primary medium. I work with solid wood — often sourced from Côte d’Ivoire — as well as plywood, using pyrography and acrylic paint to shape each piece. I see wood as a living material that already carries stories within it. My artistic practice explores memory, identity, and spirituality, always searching for a balance between the visible and the invisible.
I come from a family of woodworkers, where I learned to listen to the material, to respect it, and to transform it. For over twenty years, my hands have been working with wood. Today, I approach each piece with the same attention — guided by silence, fire, and intuition.
