I have had a strong interest in Art since childhood, and was encouraged by my parents to pursue my interests in art as well as music and science.  My Mother (@CarolBiererArt), an artist and poet, strongly encouraged my continued interest in art and music, and has had a strong influence on my artistic style.  From my Father came an interest in drafting and design, and both of my parents encouraged my interest in music and science. My artistic style was further influenced by my early art teachers and by courses I later took to become certified in Graphic Design where I continued to learn about color, shapes and composition. My interests in music and science as well as a vivid imagination and frequent dreams have all served to give me an abundance of material to work from, and I am seldom void of creative ideas.

 

Once I have decided on a creative idea, I begin to visualize it, and then must adapt it to make it work with my chosen media and art tools. I primarily work with ink (pens and markers) and soft pastels, and therefore must plan carefully to make it work within their limitations.  For example, working with most paints, they can be layered, combined and overlapped from back to front, however, with ink, each shape must be added with somewhat limited blending without layers, and the objects must be carefully planned from front to back, where the background is added last. Although the Ink and pastels are my favored medium, I have been experimenting with other mediums, such as watercolor and acrylic paint and may combine with these tools for future projects.
